Anyone know of any good crank rebuilders? Prices on rebuilding a crank?
Im looking to have my short rod rebuilt hopefully to save some cash over a brand new one. Can you even get OEM new cranks from honda anymore?
thanks

I did a new OEM long rod crank this month. Looked like it had been on the shelf a while. Still nothing beats the OEM unit.

OEM Honda short rod kit 13200-KS7-830 is still available through service honda for $93.

Also there is the Pro-X short rod kit 03.1315 for $79.

Crank works should be able to handle the rebuild but I don't know how much that will cost.

It does look like Honda has discontinued the ATC/TRX short rod crankshaft, but the long rod still looks available but for $310!

How about the older model CR250R cranks, those are the short rod version just like the old TRX.

Realy, only difference between the CR & old model TRX cranks, the flywheel half on the CR is machined different, shorter & smaller OD than a TRX one.
The clutch side half on the CR, machining is the same except the CR wont have the little dot out on the end to aline up with the balancer gear.

The crank in my daughters R, has a CR clutch side half with long rod & TRX half on the flywheel side.

Another advantage with the CR crank, the CR crank is a bit more balanced than the TRX cranks.

Somebody check OEM price on a CR crank.

The short rod crank for a 92-01 CR250 is still available 13300-KZ3-B10 for $240.

It looks like the CR uses the same bearings as on the TRX crank.

Yes, bearing measurements are the same for the CR250R, CR500R & TRX250R, but, the CR500R used an 8 ball bearing instead of a 7 ball like used on the CR250R or TRX250R.

Most all builders want the 8 ball CR500 bearing for all their Honda builds.

You know what would realy be nice, if the people going to be casting or machining cases for the TRX250R, if they would make the left case half so the CR250R crank & ignition system would bolt right on, man that would solve a bunch of problems finding parts for the ol TRX engine.

Didn't Honda upgrade to the 8-ball bearings in 88 on the TRX?

So would the CR crank be a direct fit into the TRX cases if using the CR ignition or would a custom stator mounting plate be needed (different than the ESR)?
