Hey guys! I have a nice HP laptop computer and I have a question.. I had it in another room the other day (not charging, on my lap) and when I came back into my bedroom I noticed that it was on about 30% left so I plugged it in. Since then, it is still on 30% but it reads (30% plugged in, not charging) wtf? How can I get it to charge back up??

Thanks guys!
Colton W.

do you maybe have a burnt out charging cord?

If it was worn out.. wouldn't it just let the laptop's battery die? It is just keeping it at a steady 30%.. it has been about 4 days now! :scary:

my friend also had a battery problem with his it did what yours is doing but went to a lower % everyday and soon enough it would die the second you took it off the charger.

probaly gonna need a new battery or get used to keeping it plugged in all the time. thats what i do with mine.

My buddy's HP had a battery check in the start menu. Try there first.

If you can't find it, type "battery" in the search box in the start menu.

If it is over a year old it might be time for a new battery. I have seen HP batteries go bad in that amount of time. Go to http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html find you laptop and check for driver updates and Diagnostic software

Da*nit. I ran the battery check (Thanks! I didn't even know I had that!) And it read:

'The battery check has detected a failure.'

And it is telling me I should replace it. :scary:

Anyone know roughly a battery is going to cost me??? :ermm:

I found when buying a laptop it is a good idea to buy an upgraded battery. My computer is atleast 3 years old and I still use the original battery.

I love my HP laptop and I am having a hard time deciding if I want to buy the Acer Timeline X.

Anyway, I bought a 12cell battery from ebay for my HP and its still going good 1.5 years later. I paid about $50 for it too. If that were to last me a year I would be happy.

Had same problem with my HP. Got a new battery under warranty.
