I know this is a 400ex thread not a two wheeler one but I was wondering since you guys have helped me with my quad......have any of you ever owned a crf230f. My brother is getting into dirt bikes and he wants a good begineer bike and something he can play on when he gets better. He is about 5'7 150lbs. Just wondering how the power is on them tryed looking at a dirt bike thread but got lost lol.

Ive ridden quite a few, I think for his size that would be a pretty good bike. not overly powerful but enough and it should handle his weight and size well.

Biggest tip I can tell ya is to try and find as close to what ya want use and buy that. Save yourself the money so incase you find you dont like it you can resell it.

Has he ever really ridden bikes? If he has little seat time a smaller XR200 or 150 might be better Just from the power, size and weight perspective. Might otu grow it quick, but its a good learner.

Yea he had a lil rt 100 I think is what they called them back in 98 lol it was a yamaha 2 stroke anyway but his wanting to get back in it and I was going to try and help em. Found a nice one for 1800 but it was a ttr230 I kinda wanted a honda lol

If hes pretty good then a 230 or 250 is probably the ticket.

Dont remind me about bikes lol, I want an XR650 dual sport sooo bad.

Yea the new crf450rs are bad I almost got one of them besides my 400ex but I got the quad. Just because it was about 1000 dollars cheaper. Lol but yea I thought a 230 would be good I'm about 5'11 I gues and 195lbs and it seemed to feel good when I set on it but I just never rode one.
