Quick Q's about the GT Thunder link,

1. did you need to space the exhaust and battery around to make sure the sprockers and brake didnt hit, if so how much (pics would be appreciated).

2. The belly pan I understand is needed b/c of the linkages travel. A regular skid would make the link smash into it? So I see the skid they sell is open there-doesnt this leave alot unprotected?

Really appreciate the answers.

heres some shots of my bike, its got the gt thunder xc link and a custom made skid plate with a single sprocket guard. my side plate was actually a gt thunder 450r skid that I welded on and modified. I also have a 450r rear brake. the link itself is pretty bullet proof, it will need to have a cutout in the skid for it to work right.

Thanks for the info 400man, really appreciate it.

how was the exhaust and battery spacing?

yea I forgot about the exhaust and battery/subframe. the exhaust needs to be spaced out so that it will not hit the caliper, and the subframe rail where the battery sits needs to be bent outwar cause the sprocket hub bolts will hit the subframe when the rear shock gets close to bottoming out. I just took a long steel bar and pryed out on the subframe. then just take and unbolt the linkage/shock and let the rear end compress all the way and see how much clearance you have everywhere.

Thanks, Im strongly considering doing this mod b/c the backend bucks like nuts on the whoops where I ride. Makes for a rather uncomfortable ride.

the linkage will fix all that, but it will make the shock feel very soft. if you weigh more than 150lbs it would be best to have it revalved by GT Thunder or somebody to make it work better. mine bottoms out pretty easy even on small jumps, I weigh 145lbs. but I dont do any jumping enless I hit one thats in the trails.
