Thinking about getting a new toolbox, what are you guy's opinions?

I want it to be at least a bottom/top box (not just a cart, and not just a top)....and would like it to be able to have organizers in it, that can hold a full socket set and wrench set (std and metric). I'm not a professional....and it gets little use, so I'm thinking craftsman.

I bought a waterloo from MSC. It is 54 inches wide and 46 inches tall. I got it for 700bucks. It is a bottom box. They have a top box but i didnt need it.

The bottom 48 inch from harbor freight cant be beat. its on sale alot and if you find one of those 20% coupons its even cheaper.

If I had money Id buy a snap on, matco or mac-but they are easily 1000 bucks even used.

Right now I got my tools in some el cheapo husky boxes I got at home cheapo on clearance.

Imo snap on, but thats only because I used to do body work and have mostly snap on, cornwell and some mac tools. The craftsman should work just fine. I'm not a big fan of harbor freight.

I bought one from Costco ... not sure the brand name of it but it's great. Plenty of drawers which are nice and deep... smooth rollers .... a top working area with a lid that closes and locks. It's on casters and is all stainless steel.

If you do decide to buy Craftsman, and can swing it, buy the professional series....

HF can be a hit or miss, but the box (I looked at several times btw) is solid, 10x better than any crapsmen.

Waterloo are good boxes. So are snap-on and Mac. I have Kobalt. Not the best by any stretch of the imagination, but they get the job done. The main thing is to get one with rollers in the drawers. If you don't abuse the boxes, they will last and last and last.

Ok thanks guys!

I've looked at Waterloo, Kennedy, Snap on, Mac, Matco, Craftsman, Cobalt, etc

I want one with wide drawers, so I can fit my wrench sets in 1 drawer and my socket sets in 1 drawer (using organizers).

I'll keep looking, looks like craftsman aren't the best...

Check out Menard's before you buy. I found mine there. It's got all the features of the higher end Craftsman for half the price. 40 inch top and bottom for less than $700 on sale(which it is frequently).

IMO kobalt boxes at lowes are the best for the money, hands down
