I gotin my civic the other day and it wouldn't go into gear so I thought probably the clutch was out. So I checked the fluid level and it was low so we added fluid and bled the clutch and it felt stronger again. Now today I went to drive it and its really weak again?? whats the problem? I was thinking master cylinder maybe?

ya I'm thinking master cylinder cuz I was told the cold weather would make a seal come off a and make a leak

or slave cylinder. Gotta visibly look for a leak

I don't know about the civic, but I've had that same thing happen four times in three cars, and all four times it was the slave cylinder.

I don't know the Civic, so my information may not be accurate.

Master cylinders generally aren't difficult, they're attached to the firewall. A couple screws, the hose attachement, and the arm that extends through the firewall and attaches to the clutch pedal. The hardest part is draining the system, and refilling and bleeding it.

Slave cylinders can be easy or tough. If they're external (common on older cars) they're really easy. If they're internal, you gotta drop the transmission. Your civic will be front-wheel drive, so it's a transaxle, all of it's a hassle.

The GOOD news is a new master or slave, whichever, will probably only run you about $60 or so.
