How the hell do you get this thing on? I heated it up with a torch and its still tight as crap...

I usually heat them until they start to turn blue and they fall right in place.

are you sure you put the right one on first? the large one just slides on first, then the smaller one second, the smaller one is a press fit, i just take a socket that size and tap it on, never had much of a problem getting it on

can it fit in freezer(the part) then slide on piece,s.wouldn,t heating up crank like that make it weaker? put crank in freezer then slide on collars if that would help! cold shinks metal and is great for tight fitting part to go together.

i havnt tapped it on with a socket yet it was afraid i was gonna do it crooked bc its so tight. I am sure i have the pieces on correct.

putting the crank in the freezer and then heating the collar would be great but the crank is already in the cases

Get it hot enough and it will drop right on.

if you have both case halfs on with bearings and seals you are pretty screwed

If you have the right side seal installed then the collar won't go on. You'll need to pull the seal. What's the deal with heating it? I just did a rebuild for somebody this week and all I did was heat the collar. Like I said twice before, heat it until it just starts to blue and it will drop right on. And by the way, you want to avoid tapping or driving it on at all costs. NEVER tap or hit on a crank, you knock it out of true.

the best way to put it together is putting both the collars on before installing the crank. your fine since you dont have the seals on, just take a big enough socket and tap it on

Refer to my last post, NEVER tap or hit on a crankshaft.

ok i have the cases together but i dont have the seal in..

i have heated this thing beyond turning blue and it still wont drop on.. wont even tap on..

im thinking about getting some dry ice and placing it around the crank then heating the collar and trying again

if you support the crank properly when you tap the colar on there will be no problems, that collar is usually not hard to get on at all

i tapped on it a little bit but when it wasnt going anywhere i stopped as i didnt want to be whalling on my crank... now youve got me worried ive effed my crank up...

does anyone have a part number for just the collar?? Im gonna order another one, maybe a diff one will work, bc i got this thing hot as crap and there was no "dropping right on"

dam.. i was so effing pissed at this thing tonight that i heated it REAL good with the torch then proceded to put it on backwards.. still didnt "drop" on but got stuck and i effed the collar up trying to get it back off. ended up having to go to the auto parts store and renting a bearing puller to get it off

now i dont know what to do
