I am putting new swingarm pivot bearings and seals in my 86 trx250r.The problem is the old bearings are basicly gone. The cages are still stuck in there though. So I can't put the new one's in.

I read somewhere that honda makes a special tool to remove them.Is this true.Any idea's on how to remove them?

Thanks

I was thinking about tryin and using a chisel and hammer and cutting the races out.Or I might try and use a bolt and nut and some washers with a similar diamete as the hole and getting them out that way.

don't use hammer & chisel:confused2
heat & a bearing puller MIGHT work ;)
& there is the posssiblity that it wont :(

Well I went out in the garage and decided to come back in.A little to cold out there for my taste.I am going riding sunday I will wait to get sick again until then.

I really don't want to heat on it.I do have a bearing puller.I will get them out.Just not tonight.:)

just use a 1/2" drive deep (impact if you have one) socket that is just smaller than the swingarm hole, but the same size as the bearing race. beat them out with a hammer. this will only work on 86-87 models, 88-89 has the solid tube swingarm. they should come out with litlle force. i do mine like that whenever i have to change them.

alright thanks 250rpilot.Yeah I have a impact socket. My R has been apart for over a year now.I still don't have the money to put the motor back togother.I just want to get the rolling chassis back togother and rebuild the brakes, etc. Then hopefully I will get the rest back togother by summer time.Atleast I got my 300ex fixed so I can ride again.

you will need a socket thats aprox.1.020...,O.D.(outside diameter)
the oem pivot bearings measures aprox.1.022..,O.D.
these are a press fit, ..so use heat ...& cross your fingers ..
