What are the differences between those model years?
I know the dog bones are different lengths in the rear linkages and the swing arms are different lengths also, but are the shocks different lengths?
Is there a color difference also?
Thanks, Matt

86 is longer than the 87 shock, and the 87 is longer than the 88-89.

OK, so I need an 88/89 rear shock to go with the rest of it!
Any idea of the length center to center, in case I come across a deal on an aftermarket one?

Id like this info as well. i converted my frame to 88/89 motor mounts so I can run 88/89 style swinger, and i already have the 88/89 linkage setup. I am looking for a rear shock as well and knowing the correct length would help

I don't have an 88-89 lying around to measure, sorry.
