Hey guys i have a left over key switch from my 05' 450r and am currently building a crf50 pit bike.. my question is that the ignitions are the same for the two except the 450r has a red and a black wire that the crf50 dosent..would my 50 still turn on if i used my 450r ignition and just left those two wires unconnected? that do the red and black wire do?

on the 450 the red is from the rectifier, and it's the hot wire, that feeds the black when key is on for lites and fan

ok so in theory if i don't use them the key will still work on my 50?

it all depends on what your using it for!!! if its in place of a teather type switch (normally closed) then yes it will work, those two wires on the 450 act as the kill... when it is OFF the contacts are closed to ground out the ignition coil... if your using to complete a circiut when in ON position then then it will be backwards.... so basicall ON position will be off and Off position will be on as long as you dont care wich way the key needs to be turned it shouldnt matter

i was just gonna use it for the on and off for the key

are you using to ground out the coil wire to kill motor??

no. im gonna run a killswitch like they come stock from the factory to kill the engine.

if you are going to use the key switch to complete the circuit, the off will actually be on ...

so basicall with the key turned to the left will be on and turned to right will be off..

not a big deal but something you will have to get used to
