ok i dont no what each ajustment does or how to do it. when twisting the shock thats one ajustment. the bottom one is one and the top one is one also.BUT witch one do i turn on the top ajustment. the little screw or the one you turn thats like a 17mm wrench?? and what do each ajustment do???

The top one is the compression adj you use the screw not the nut.

The bottom one is rebound adjustment

You also have threaded preload (the one you said when twisting the spring). This will raise or lower the ride height.

if you talking about the stock shocks, when adjusting only adjust one setting at a time and do each side the same,and see what the ride is like, the thing you will notice is stock shocks really dont change that drastically

if you soften them up to handle rocky trails, they will bottom out on jumps, if you stiffen up for jumps they will be to hard on rocky trails,

find the type of riding you do the most and adjust to that
