i have a 99 400ex that keeps having carb issues w/ gas steadily out of the overflow. i rebuilt the carb and it still did it, i have also got a carb off an 05 and gave it a rebuild kit b4 installing it, put it in and it still leaks out the overflow steadily. in trying to do some more trouble shooting i decided to pull the petcock out of my fuel tank and investigate further as since i had worked w/ 2 carbs and my trouble followed. i noticed that the strainer thats on top of the petcock is just about missing all of the screen on it, my ? is could the fuel system w/ out the strainer screens be flowing too much fuel to my carb and overflowing the bowl not allowing the needle and seat to shut the flow down? this is driving me nuts.
