it all depends on where you want the power band to be and how you want your machine to perform. it will also depend on compression and such too. it is just not as simple as dropping a cam in. the wrong one and you will not be happy with your choice.

what sort of riding are you doing?
most of the time with a stock bore and compression the stage 1 hot cam will be the best cam for improved mid and top end as compared to the stock cam. it will probably have about the same or just a tad less low end though than the stock cam.

my vote goes to a stage 1 hotcam or something close to that grind. there are grinds that are similar to this by both sparks and web. the x1 by sparks is sort an inbetween stage 1 and stage 2 hotcam sort of deal that may be another option if you want a bit more top end out of it.

i vote the stage 1 to go with your sparks key and you would be happy with a general all around style setup without going to crazy.

You want the stage 1 then, it works best on stock to mild motors with stock sized pistons.

okay thats what i was thinking but one of my friends that races pro class and the owner of Rossier Engineer in Plover Wi told me hot cams arent the best and i was just wondering what brand stage 1 cam would give me the best gains????

its really not gonna help you too much since you still will have a stock bore. Not gonna be like you added another 5hp or make the quad a rocket. What it will do is give you lowend torque. kindalike going from driving a 4cyl car to driving a v8 if you know what i mean. changes the power curve of the engine when you drop in the cam.

The cam really only changes where you make the power. stage 1 gives you stump pulling torque, this is good b/c it will get you going quick, bad is once you reach the wide open throttle it tapers off a bit. stage 2 works better on a modified engine, IE 416, 426 with exhaust, etc. This gives you all around gains but much higher top end than the stage 1 and its good if your gonna go fast, people make up for the loss of the lowend by the power the machine itself makes due to the larger displacement, gearing, carb, etc.

The sparks drop in cam is said to be between a stage1 and 2 hot cam, almost like a 1.5. ive never used one but its what i heard.
