Well from the fall of 2007 untill the summer of 2010 my 400EX sat in the corner of my garage as a pile of parts. I went on a trail ride with a friend of mine that I race MX with and it made me want my 400EX back so after 8 months of building and a month of sitting around due to going back to college for my final semester, here is my new, and I mean pretty much everything is new, 2001 400EX:

My nice spot for mounting my rear rezzy, might keep it cooler:

I'd like to thank one of my very close friend, and the owner of Nac's Racing, Danny Lewis, and I'd like to thank Seth at SF Racing for working his tail off on my shocks which were pretty beat when he fot them. Thanks guys couldn't have done it without you!

VERY NICE! I really like the powdercoating job you had done, nothing flashy just a few key parts are the right colors :)

Only my 450 and my 400 are done. Right now my 250R is still in its "before" condition. I haven't started working on it yet reall, still getting parts together and getting ready. Tear down on that should happen early this summer. But here is a pic of my 450 and my 400. Not that great of a pic but they are there lol:

very very sick man! great job on it for sure.

as a bit of a side note: it looks like your spacer for your exhaust should probably go inbetween your frame and your slip on part not on the outside of your slip part. just noticed that after looking through the pics again.

That spacer is actually for the FMF exhaust that it had before I got the sparks. I just haven't had the time to get another, smaller bolt for it so the spacer is just there so I can use the bolt.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

lol thanks man. Yeah the FMF mounted in the center of the muffler and the Sparks mounts on the side of muffler. I'll replace it when I come home for spring break in the middle of March. Hopefully the snow will be gone and I can break the motor in finally but thats not looking too good with 2 "big" storms comming this week and 3.5' of snow on the ground now.

Awesome Job man!
The color scheme and parts are great.

Are those new plastics or did you use
something to shine them ? Wish I could
get mine to look that great.

They are new from Honda. Thanks for the compliment!

Damn...I was hoping it was a magic trick!
I find it so hard to justify replacing my plastic because of the scratches... Their not even broken.

Did you get to try it out yet ? How do you like the Sparks exhaust ?

Nac's22

I've only ridden in maybe 100'. After I finished it we got 2 big snow storms in a row and since then we have gotten more. The only thing I can say is I like the sound of my Sparks lol. It sounds similar to my 450... just a lot slower revs. I only replaced my plastic because I sold the plastics that were on it. I always wanted a red one anyway lol.

Yeah, I can't wait to finish mine and here my sparks! :)

Hey, I never thought of selling my plastics! (Might post an ad and see how much I could get....it would really complete the look)

At the dealer here (canada) it's 215$ for the fronts and 160$ for the rear + taxes....

It sounds a lot meaner then the FMF I had before. Like I said, it sounds pretty close to my 450 and I love the way my 450 sounds. I bought my plastics from Honda and it really wasn't overly expencive. Cost just about as much as Maier or anywhere else. Pretty sure someone messed up on shipping though because they only charged me $15 for fronts and rears... thats a huge box to ship for $15. Good luck on selling them. Glad I could point you in the right direction lol.

My yellow 2001 400EX also has extra Red plastic with the grey Nac's gas tank graphics.....the Nac's graphics are so good I was able to peel them off my old plastic, with heat, an spray glue on the backs an re apply to brand new plastic, Nac's Rocks, glad your friend an you are keeping his memory alive...Doug Gusts come back story to racing because of Nac is awesome...I hope everyone knows about it, its very inspiring...an I lost me best friend an riding buddy to cancer...so the story always meant alot to me.

Danny used to race Pro in NEATV for Nac's and worked for Doug, the guy that bought it from Darren's family, who used to own Nac's. After the rough times a few years for Nac's Danny bought the buisness and pulled back from racing to run it.
