All that stuff outside the garage was killing me, sorry... but I can just picture a car up on blocks in the front yard w/weeds growing up around it & a tire swing for kickers. I can't help myself sometimes...

lrdrider, I like all the toys, and the idea of a crapper in the shop;)

How do get wheels off on that hoist? That's the kind of hoist you see at exhaust shops. We got ours from work, for free. A car fell off of it so the insurance co made them replace it. We had the company who sold them the new hoist come out and install that and go through the whole thing with new cables bushings and seals.

Blazin, most of the toys in there aren't mine:( they are my friends. The shop is at his house. I helped to build it from the slab to the roof. I pay the power bill, and supplied most of the amenities.
I practicly live there. The VFR, XR and Z are his.

Nice garage. We were lookin to move a while back and thhe house we were lookin at had 2 garages about that size. On top of the garage's were rooms. One was a game room and one was a recording room. The guy did somethin with music. It was nutz. I wanted to move but we were gonna be really close to neighbors so my parents decided not to. The garages were seperated but man were thay big.

Man am I jealous. I would win the award for smallest garage (and most crammed with stuff). Now that all the horses are gone, if I could just get off my butt to redo the barn, then maybe I'd have more work room.

It's not the SIZE of the garage, but HOW you USE IT!!!.........
not to mention what you PUT in it!(BTW) mine is 30X40 and packed wall to wall, with old cars and quads, hmm, i make a quick list.....1940 Ford Convertiable,1960 Ford Convertible,1960 Ford 2door StationWagon,1960 Ford Replica Cop Car,(1960 Ford 2Door Sedan Stock-car behind garage on blocks, lol) 1967 VW Bettle, 2001 Polaris Scrambler50, 2000 400EX, 1998 300/350Ex, 1998 Honda XR80, 1997 Timberwolf, 1996 timberwolf,1986 Honda 350X ATC....Due to space limitations, these vehicles are in different places at different times, big garage, other smaller garage, under the house garage. :devil Oh, forgot to say, needed more than 1 garage :blah :D I will post a pic of 2 of the nicest ones......

I mean how do you get the wheels off of a car that is on the hoist. if the car is on the hoist sitting on the wheels, is there a set of rams in the center you can lift the frame with? (like on an alignment rack).

02-18-2003, 03:45 PM
what are you talking about...the tires are still on the lift..there is a cover over the car that goes down past the wheels....

I think he means that if you WANTED to take the wheels off is there and auxillary lift in the center of that one to get the car up enough to take off the wheels.............

02-18-2003, 04:13 PM
ooooooo...there is a thing that slides across the bottom of the 2 platforms....its for like oil buckets and stuff when changing oil...im sure you could slide it towards the rear....jack it up and put a jack stand under it..and the same with the front to take the wheels off

Exactly! I see hoists like that at exhaust shops all the time. But ours supports the car by the frame so the wheels can be removed or so you can do a tranny r-n-r. Never the less once you have a hoist in your shop you will never, EVER, work on a creeper again:D
