Hetrick pipe cylinder combo

I have a gen 2 hetrick pipe. I'm in the process of switching cylinders and was wondering if this pipe works really well with a certain cylinder carb combo. any info will be great.

I had one that worked good on a stock 90 cylinder 24 carb, did not work good at all on race cylinder though.
