So I've been trying to sell my dirtbike for a long while. I just don't have time to take it to a track anymore and woods riding this thing is hell. Recently someone offered me a trade for an 1980 Jeep CJ7. Is it worth it?

My bike:

Cj7(lockers are lock rights and it needs nothing to pass inspection)

I'd take the body lift off the jeep, do a SOA setup and change the tires to something a bit more streetable if I got it.

1 inch body lifts fine, I dont remove them unless they are 3+ inches as thats just stupid. Straight six is good, wont ever die and the 5 speed is good.

Axles are weak point on those, but looks like he built them up a bit.

Lockers front and rear are gonna be tough to drive if it snows by you, forget about turning lol if you have both the front and rear locked in 4wd (it has manual hubs so you can disconnect the front and use it btw)

Not a bad trade so long as it runs well and isnt a rust heep. Make sure you figure out why he wants out of it.

Remember a few things about that style of jeep:
-It will ride like a truck and when I mean like a truck stock or modified it rides like a tank
-Total utilitarian, dont if you get the interior dirty if it even has a rug it wont matter. Spartan to say the last
-Those old engines run forever but remember just like a bike or quad they do wear out and need to be rebuilt. Considering the trucks 30+ years old it might be time
-Check for rust, PA winters suck cause of the salt they use and if the body is full of bondo it would be a deal breaker for me.

Otherwise good luck with it.
