Mid-American weather??????

Holy cow... In all of my years i can't remember a single storm this big being predicted. Got the generator out filled all my vehicles and cans with gas just in case. Last time we had ice, i was out of electricity for 10 days. I don't know how you northern people do it, but i hate this stuff. Upside though, is that i know am forced to have nothing to do, so looks like the quad gets all my attention once again. lol :) They are predicting 1" of ice and over 19"s of snow/ice mix.

They are talking on the news how so many people are going out and buying shovels and snowblowers. How did they clear snow the other 10x it snowed this year? I hope we get a lot of snow :macho

I woke up to nearly -40 this morning. The truck barely started and my wife's car needed a boost to get going. I moved the truck and it felt like a brick ... in fact the brakes were non-existent since the brake fluid was damn near frozen.

I've had a COLD January so far with quite a bit of snow. But that's life in the North.

It started in indiana about 4 today. Not too bad where I live, a good coating of ice (about .3" solid) and then like an inch of sleet on top of it. Weirdest thing ever, walking up the drive way and kicking sleet cause its stacked up so high.

They aren't even plowing, cause atleast the sleet gives you a little bit of traction.

Where I work, about 25 miles to the north, boss called and said there is 6 inches of snow and falling.

eastern illinois university canceled classes tomorrow as well. we haven't really gotten snow from this storm yet, but the ice is amazing... in a good and bad way. looks cool, but branches are breaking all over and falling on cars.

I can stand outside my house and hear the trees crashing... We lost all of the trees that pose a risk to our home and shop 4yrs ago in the last ice storm.

They cancelled school for us today and we got out early yesterday(highschool) but we got not much ice really, some salt could easily fix this. But I think its gunna miss us. Im in central Illinois

I'll go snap some pics of the outside here... We have 1 1/2 inches of ice and atleast 12 inches of snow with abouther 10-14 inches of snow expected to fall. Its drifting up to 4ft in some areas... :devil:

Don't you just love the snow?? Hahaha

Can I offer some word of advice? Unless you have a snowblower or a plow ... get out there and start shoveling. You'd be better off shoveling a foot of snow 3 times than shoveling 3 feet of wet snow once. You're going to curse to hell once that layer of ice sets with 3 feet under it. :p

You guys call that snow??? We already had 18-24 inches one storm, then the next day it snowed even more,t hen a month later snow was almost gone and it snowed another foot or so.

Awesome pics guys. We had some good amounts of snow but what really did us in was the wind. I can't remember the last time the town roads had that big of drifts on them. Me and my buddy went and tried to drive them, couldnt see anything, and finally buried ourselves in a huge drift!

Luckily we had a FORD and thank god for four wheel drive. After about a half hour, we got out.
