I was putting my new RAZR's on tonight and when I was putting the left one on I noticed the hub was loose. I pulled the pin and got it tight again but I was woundering if this is something that just happens or do I have a problem?

Thanks for the help

I wear out the splines on a set of 400ex hubs about every 2 months. Yes I ride a lot and hard. When they go bad the bike pulls sideways on acceleration and by the time I get back to my truck it will spin freely on the axle. Nice thing is that they are not to pricey.

I pulled out the cotter pin and tightened the nut. It had a little wiggle to it by hand. I noly had to tighten it one more slot on the nut for the catter pin to go back in and everything to be all tight again. When I noticed it was loose I checked the nut and it would turn by hand without the cotter pin and the other side was tight so that is why I just tightened it and put it all back together. So does this sound like it should be ok?

It's not uncommon to happen...
Clymer says to torque to 101# then continue turnig to the line up the hole.

i put some silicone on my splines. #1 it keeps it from vibrating loose, #2 it just keeps it tight and #3 it gives it about an extra .00001 inches of extra suspension travel;) Hey every little bit counts right?

Well it sounds like I did the right thing by just getting it tight again. Thanks guys.

It's a common thing for them to work themselves loose,,,I"ve retighted mine several several times...it's just something you have to keep your eye on every few rides..

I figured it was just one of those things that happens over time what with vibration and what not. It is all nice and snug now so I should be able to ride this weekend. Probably the last ride before the War.
