Car Question

Sorry guys, I know this is an ATV site but you have been able to answer all my questions so far! :D

I have an older Geo Metro (good on gas) and this winter was pretty bad, so I always drove my pickup. I went to get the Geo out there other day because we had some pretty good temps and she wouldn't start.

About 5 years ago, I would turn it off, come out 2 hours later and the battery would be completely drained. So me and my uncle figured out to take out one of the fuses which solved the problem.

So I charged up the battery, stuck the fuse in, and tried to turn it over like normal. Theres no sound what so ever. No clicking like the battery is dying. It doesn't even make a chirp. I'm not anything close to a mechanic so if anyone knows what I should check, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

is the car getting any power?
any lights come on the dash when you turn the key on?
starter solenoid bad?

Key on, do the lights turn on at all? If so common issue with those cars. Get a hammer and have a friend smack the starter while oyu try and continually start the car. It cranks over your starter is bad.

Yeah when I turn the key on, the dome light doesn't come on and either do the headlights, etc.

It started 2 months ago but that was the last time I drove it so it has been sitting for up to 2 months in the weather. Unless I blew a fuse.

make sure battery terminals are connect good. and check the battery. bring it to advance auto or another auto parts store most of them have a thing to test your battery.

Well I hooked jumper cables up to the Geo battery to my truck which was running. Still nothing.

So I guess it could be a good chance that it is the battery. Don't have one around right now though.

it should have worked if you had the jumper cables from your truck hooked up to the car. maybe a fuse or something. is there corrosion on the battery terminals?

No, there was a little but I cleaned it off. I'm not sure what to do!

check and make sure the ground is good and start checking fuses. try the main relay too

Yep, make sure all cables are connected to the battery good, all fuses are good.

1. Sounds like you dont have a good connection somewhere, try wiggling the terminals on the battery

2. You blew the main fuse somehow, it will be labeled something like main or alternator and if its blown you get no power period. Replace it and it should fire right up.

If you hear no click when you turn the key over then your starter solenoid is bad.

Battery wont take charge anymore thats what I see it just happened to me get new battery!
