brand new set of cheng shin c826 tires. What would be the best option for lenght? Everyon around me is sold out of 1/2" they have the 3/8 and 5/8(.625") Would the 5/8 go through the tire and cause it to leak?
thanks

Most guys that are serious use 1", they go all the way through, but they don't come out near as easy. I currently have 5/8, they go through, but they also pull out and then leak. If I were you, I would get long screws.

I use 1 inch put the tire on the rim inflate to about 25psi put the screws all the way in and deflate the tire down to 8 or 9 psi mine have not leaked in a year.

1" is the way to go. I use mine for 2-3 years per set and they don't leak or throw studs. The studs will be wore out before they leak.

I'm telling you, get LONG screws, I rode my 5/8 only 2 days and I already lose 2-3 per 5 laps and then have to go re-inflate. It is a real PITA. Once the tire is flat, good luck cornering.

Yeah, 250 will be fine. I only have ~175 right now and when the ice is hard I cant keep the front end down.

You'll be fine. I've been riding the ice for 15 years with this setup and it works.

but like jpf said, i heard similar way of doing it before. Fill the tire up allllll the way and put them in slow, then deflate to desired psi? Just trying to clarify before i tear up some tires.... sorry for all the questions and thanks for the replys guys.

Yes, that is exactly want you want to do. It will feel really weird when you put the first one in but I just did a set 3 weeks ago with one inch screws, PRO Golds Course thread, and it works awesome. You don't want to have them coming out and re-inflating. Its only a little funny when SilverLake250R's come out and I go right around him as he loses tractions, LOL :D :macho hahahaha
