just wondering how many people on here have a 501r and how does it run, and have you had any problems out of them?

I have been running one for nearly two years. The best investment I ever made. I had two head gasket failures, but it turned out to be a cracked head. When I'm finished with my rides, I
literally have to try to stop smiling. :D
Go for it!!!!

I also Have the CP12.5 But i think FTZ advanced the timing a lil to much because I have to run 100ll air plane fuel or it pings

When you add a stroker crank it ups the compression .6 so you really have a 13.1:1 compression.

mine does not ping or knock at all and i have 14:4:1 compression and i am running 93 with no problems

I been wondering the same about all this, im wanting to build a rodeo/motocross bike, and kinda trying to decide what to go with on the motor, im more less wanting one for play with, i was thinking about doing the lower end and mid with a stroker crank and putting the cylinder works jug on it, and running a 13:5:1 piston, and running all cosmetic gaskets,an a curtis sparks tt cam and having the head sent of and having ported and polish and putting +1 valves in it as well, different springs and hopefully titanium maybe kibblewhite? and have the 5 angle valve job done with a 43mm fcr carb, and doing some more odd and ends and i believe that would be one hard motor to touch and going with the whole hinson clutch setup. just a idea i been going with for a while

that would be a awesome build, next winter i am sending my whole motor off to racers edge and letting them build me a 70+hp motor.

yep super gas on 14:3:1 compression, everybody always says there is no way your doing that without messing somethin up but ive did it for a whole drag season and nothin went wrong.

its not that it wont work.. but u would get even more power from race fuel and until its apart you wont be able to see the stuff thats going on in your head and valves and piston..
but hey if its workin ride it!!:)

love my 500R,.. just check out my signature... yup 70+hp dyno tested on pump gas... i've built a couple of these already for other customers too... all of them including mine are still kicking arse...

i really like the jug but i use my own piston...

hope this helps.

how much do you charge for a 70hp 500 build?

chad502ex

Depends on how far you want to go really....

70hp+ is a pro build so obviously cost isn't much concern if your wanting what I got.. I'm not trying to be arrogant just saying a pro build gets it all so obviously everything costs more...

big bad beny

i ride my 471 in the woods, im not gonna lie it does tend to stall some times, i say if i had a little bit lower compression i wouldnt have that problem
