It's time to get my son a new atv and I can't make up my mind which is the best bang for the buck. I'm looking at the CanAm DS90,Polaris Outlaw 90 and the Kymco Mongoose 90. The areas we ride are very diverse from open dunes to tight twisties in the woods. My only requirement is it must be an automatic with reverse which narrows the search a bit. I've been searching for reviews for several days now but still have trouble deciding which one. The price difference for the 2011 models is 400 dollars with the Polaris on top, Kymco on bottom and CanAm pricing out right in the middle. All suggestions and help is welcome. Thanks

Kymco's are a great machine. Very good reports on them.
Better than the other 2 IMO.

DRR would be first choice for me. Around the same price, and you get alot more for your money. As for the reverse um get off and push LOL. These quads are not 500lbs and can easly be moved around. Just my 2 cents

Pushing is fine without reverse however we are talking about a 50 lb. 7 year old and a 200+ pound quad.

Where do you ride more though woods or the dunes? The four stroke would be nice for the woods by boring in the dunes! the ds 90 are not quick stock though they do make some performance parts for these.

I have a 2006 kymco mongoose 90 for my daughter. It is a very good machine and we have had zero problems with it. The Kawasaki kfx90 is made for them by Kymco. It is a kymco mongoose 90 with a different set of plastics.

WE just sold my son's Kymco Mongoose 50. Not a 90 but this was a 3 year old machine when we bought it and it was VERY good. No problems, very reliable. Ride, wash, repeat. My son is now racing so the low maintanance days are gone.......... good luck!

It surprising to see how many people suggest getting the Kymco. Until I started doing some checking I thought the only way to get a quality atv was to go with the big names. I thought Kymco was just another manufacturer from China and the Tao Tao 110 he has now just left a real bad impression on me. I've learned that Kymco is a strong, reliable manufacturer that is easily overlooked.

Kymco makes the 50,90,250 for Arctic Cat and the Can Am DS250.
They also make the 50,90 for Suzuki & Kawasaki.
The best thing about the Kymco is you get a 1yr warranty for the same quad that the big names sell and the big names only give you 6months on it.....
My wife has a Kymco250 that we have had for almost 5yrs and not one single problem ever.
Unfortunatley, imho, they went to the 4stroke motor. When the 50/90 were 2 stroke they were able to be modded much easier for speed and power.

If you dont plan on racing then the Kymco is way to go AND IF Kymco makes the Kawasaki I might lean that way due to possible warranty issues and getting OEM parts. Its a lot easier to find a Kawi shop than a Kymco one.
FYI, you can get an aftermarket exhaust, intake and carb to really help these 4 strokes.
One advantage to the Can-Am is the front suspension being duel a-arm.

We had the Outlaw 90. You will have to do some mods to make it through the dunes. The Can-am is the same machine as the Outlaw so don't be fooled by the different names. They are not bad but very slow!!! Don't know about the kymco. Good luck with your decision>

Kymco does make the 4 stroke Kawasaki 50 and 90. They do not make the Suzuki 4 stroke 50 and 90. Kymco is made in tiawan, not china. They are not going to run with a 2 stroke 90, but it may still be what you want. The 2 stroke is better for the dunes.

I agree

I thought that I would add:: Svarek(SP) raced a 90 Kymco and was nationaly competitive. Bud Fischer did his motor.

Out of those three it's gotta be the Kymco.
