'88 lt80 coil broken wire

I have been working on my first lt80. The spark plug wire is broke off where it exits the coil. I have tested the coil itself and it is good. I was hoping to be able to replace the wire and not have to shell out for a complete replacement. Is this possible or do I have to suck it up and drop some cash.

It just unscrews.. Use a pick or something and it'll come out.
Screw a new one on. :)

I actually discovered this late last night after my post. The remains of the 23 year old wire had hardened into something close to granite. I used a pick like you advised and pulled it out piece by piece. What a relief after seeing the $175 price of a new coil. Thanks for the help in this and all of your previous posts I have been reading in preparation for this project.
