I have had my 04 for quite a while. Its been an awsome quad and theres not a thing wrong with it but I am ready to upgrade to a more current model. Problem is, I want to put all my 04 parts on the 08. Not possible but I am going to do the transformation best I can and hopefully purchase the things that wont work.
The end result will be my new (new to me) 08 will be basically a new ready to go full mx quad, and my older (04) will be a returned to stock (but with motor!!) nice clean quad that I will need to go ahead and sell once its done.

Heres what my 04 looks like now.

After several weeks of serching I finally came across this 08 in almost new condition. The price wass excellent so I went ahead and jumped on the deal. This might be the cleanest "used" quad I've seen in a while.

So first things first. I know I can use the front end off the 04. But the a arms are in desperate need of a new powder coating so off to Pappys they will go.

Looks like I can use my nerf bars, axle, and I dont know but I think my Lonestar stem will be usable on the 08 (this I'm not sure of) so if anyone knows for sure if the stem will work on all years let me know.
I currently have 20" Elkas up front but I may sell those and try to upgrade to Fox (if I can afford it)
My rear shock is a stck revalve with GTT link. It will have to stay on the 04.

It is very clean. Theres not even any sign of dirt underneath the hood seat or tank. I seriously think he completely avoided any mud when he rode it. Maybe rode it in his neighborhood some. Who knows. He was the first owner and bought it new at Cycle Nation.

Make sure you use the 04-05 stem with the 04-05 front end. I know there is a slight difference in years because of the difference in spindles and top a-arm length.

Will Do. Actually will just switch entire front ends stem and all.

This morning I got to a stopping point on the 04. I am beginning to tear down the 08. Basically taking off the front end to make the switch. Also will be reomoving headlight and any unesessary wiring. Will go ahead and clip the green wire I've read about and prepare to wire in my kill switch and install the dirt bike kill switch as a start button.

Still amazed that its so clean underneath. No complaints here about that.

Well finally updating this. Heres the 04 made back to stock with the 08 parts. I had some issues with the steering stem so I went ahead and bought a replacement. But basicaly turned out to be a nice stock (with a lil motor) quad. It sold today for $2500

Heres the 08. A arms back from pappy. I put the elkas back on for now. All though their not bad when set up right I sure would like to get some Fox shocks up front. Got the new graphics on from E-sticky. New front fenders and new red ones on the way for the rear. I was able to get a walsh Ez25 swinger and Fox rear shock which is one nice set up.

Luckily I was able to use most everything I had on the 04. Unfortunately exhaust was not one of them. I did purchase the new Moto X Perts exhausts. Im pretty excited about getting it so I'll let anyone whos interested know how it performs. Still need a hood and other odds and ends but should soon be ready.

Looks good man!! Very nice build! Did you get the mxp exhaust with the chamber or not?

jkiserracing

I went with no chamber. Its not here yet but I cant wait to get it on. My 04 had a DASA which I loved but I wanted to give this one a try. I have a feeling I'll like it.

I was just curious where did you get that rear shock resevoir mount that is attached to the left side of your rear grab bar? BTW the build looks really good.

Basically completed now!!

I got my skid plate from Janssen which is like the Tag railer. I've really been wanting a non metal skid so this one did the trick.
Also got my new hood and the MXP exhaust. Still a few things like jetting and a cam but all in all its all done.

E sticky graphics. They have the basic design to start with then you add what you want.
