Almost got the 400ex front end on the 300. Stock it started out around 40". We will see final measurements. Pics up soon and info.

Edit. Just got done and been riding it around some. Seems to cut good to the left, Not as far to the right.

I am going to look for shock options. I have Mojave shocks on right now and all the angles look perfect and the tires are just about straight up and down. Rides great also. Only thing I dont like is the front end is a little too high. Other then that all is good.

Gonna mess with it some more and I will update.

Rough measurement after the arms and a set of durablue 3" spacers brings it to 45 1/2".Should have came stock like this. Looks like a sport atv now lol.

post some pics of that quad i want to see how it compares to mine with 400ex shocks... my quad sitting pretty low but its bad for trails i have to adjust the shock height to raise my front end up... its a very nice ride was happy i did that conversion but i believe my front end is 45" without the spacers, i know my rear is 5 inch wider than stock, will also take some measurements ive been working on my project for about a month now with school and all its hard to find time...

45 without spacers? You must have +3 400ex arms then. I used stock 400arms. Unless you used 400ex spindles which I didnt because of the leaning issue. I will get some pics up soon. I am thinking on making my own shock relocation bracket.

no they are stock a-arms i will measure for sure before i say anything else but i remember it was 40 some inches... i did use 400ex spindles at first but changed it due to the leaning and put 300ex spindles back on... it can be both easy and hard at the same time to make it... but ive seen people cut the 300ex mounts and move them up idk how much up but then they put xtra plates for support and welded it... yeah post some pics ill b waiting for those

I will update this thread asap. Great thing is I have a new camera coming in this morning. Just in time. :D

All this modding on the 300ex already. Hell I didnt need to start modding another one. I just got this 300 to beat around on and ride and not care about it. I can already see that I have started so no turning back now. I am not taking it as far as I have my V-force though.

lol thats how it is with me i wanted a stock 250x yeah right lol... i measured my front end and its 46.5" and the rear is 48"

You do know that if you bring the rear back down to under 46.5" it will handle better. You always want your front to be wider than your rear.

I will get some pics soon even thought more damn snow is on.

yeah i do know that, thats why im buying spacers for the front i have durablue 2.5" on each side for the rear and getting plus 2" on each side for the front here is some pics of the quad...

Nice, Did you polish up that motor? Alot of people would think it was a 400ex with a 300ex motor :D

Darn I gotta post some pics and have mine look bad now.

lol it practically is a 400ex with a 300ex motor... i was gonna put the 300ex motor in my 400ex frame but it needs a bunch of parts too much money to get it right so i did this instead... yeah i polished the motor heres pics of the motor

I would like to polish my motor but I don't need to start doing this one. It is to ride and abuse.

So what was your polishing process? Besides sanding.

lol it took me a while to polish it... i started off my buying a paint remover in a spray can was like 7$ took the paint off the covers then started polishing at 600 grit and moved my way up to 2500 grit... then i used a $25 bottle of chrome polish my dad bought for his truck that works miracles and that was the last process... oh i forgot for the cases and top end i used bleach white also known as that eagle something tire polish then i used a wire toothbrush and washed my motor like that took cooked mud of motors with no problems... was well worth it

I kept wondering how your front was 46+ with no spacers. It must be in your wheels. What is the spacing on your wheels? My fronts are stock currently. Looking to change those out real soon also.

Oh yeah, Here is you a headlight.

Not a good pic but a pic none the less. I am either going to half to make a shock mount bracket or find some other shocks. My front end is just too high with the Mojave shocks. The layout is perfect just a little high.

Man I am loving the 400ex front end. Rode it today and raised some hell. Much more responsive and stable as could be. Smooth also. Jumps land so nicely. I cant even believe it. Vids to come soon.

I need some motor work now. Want a cam and high comp piston about 11:1 or so. Is the hotcam worth it? I would rather have a builder cam but the drop in hotcam would work if it makes any difference.

It is amazing how the 300 does now. Changed the carb and got it running alot better now. 5th gear wheelies no problem. Lovin it.

yeah i finally got to ride mine yesterday but i have a few problems it wont stay running long i put a 400ex carb on mine put a 162 fuel jet and it was running fine now its like my gas tank or something got clooged up with something after running it the quad randomly dies i press throttle a few times and it starts in a few kicks, so idk what it is gotta check it out today... yeah my 250x right now is wider than my 400ex (im returning it to stock) and im buying the plus 3" for the front spacers so i can be wider than my rear... for the cam ive been looking for one, idk what to get either i want more bottom end power but top wouldnt hurt either... i was thinking about the hotcam I or 2 dont know yet... the piston is worth it but after riding it a while its a pain to kick that motor over lol...
what carb did you use?

Another stock 300 carb. I have not went to the 400 carb yet. Still waiting on a cheap deal on one. I have been eyeing the hotcam. Just wonder exactly how much it helps. It would be a cheap enough mod if its worth it.

yeah i got my 400ex carb tuned in fast like 30 mine... started on a 152 and went up... i figured out why my quad would randomly shut off, seems from sitting so long and this being the first tank of gas there was rust etc mixed with the gas and it messed it all up i cleaned it all out and now it runs like a champ again... yeah 400ex carbs are a little pricy... but it woke the quad up... right now im doing research on a port and polish job im gonna try to do it my self

So what did your jetting end up at? Where you judging the jetting just by how it felt? I will keep an eye out for a cheap 400 carb.

no i jetted it to the point where it wouldnt stave for gas... my air screw is a little far out but its ok... i put a 152 in and it was starving like crazing now i got a 162 and you can gas it all the way from idle and it revs right up none of that bogging stuff... right after i did the mod my front end acually started to come off the ground :)

I have a 400 carb on my 300 and started out with a 168. Now I am down to a 158. Motor is all stock but I have uni filter, full super trap exhaust, and some 1/2" holes in my airbox lid. It seems to run good this way. When I had anything above 158 when I started to slow down from say wide open, and I tapped the gas a little, it would make a shuter type sound. So I dropped it down to the 158 and it wnet away. but it seems like Im running it to lean if your running a 162 in a 250?

250 and 300 are the same thing just a different stroke in the crank... my 250x is built a little more than your bike so it makes up the difference... i run a 12:1 wiseco piston, full fmf exhaust, open airbox with k&n, (port and polish coming soon) and that 400ex carb, its acually doing well i can gas it at any rpm anytime and it wont sputter...
