I am tired of hearing all the young punks saying how the Z440 beat the 250R the last year it raced cause Gust 55 won the title. I have read it 9 or 10 times in the last 6 years on this site and Im sick of it. Get your facts straight.

In 2003 there was 2 pro class's in the AMA/ATVA MX nationals. The true PRO class and the Pro production class to make the factories happy. In 2004 the PRO class was dead dead dead! Per the AMA/ATVA results page for 2004 there was only the Pro production class.

In 2003 the last year the Legendary 250R was allowed to compete, it won the last AMA/ATVA PRO class championship with J. Jones at the helm. Doug Gust did win the 2003 Pro production class in which the 250R was not allowed to compete. A 450cc 4 stroke has never beaten the 250R for an AMA/ATVA MX national title.

Ok, but its not a debate. The facts are all on the AMA/ATVA results page. Not saying the Shee and Zilla wont smoke an R but they werent allowed in the class to begin with back in 86. I wont argue about how bad a 403cc stroker Shee engine in a Leager 250R geomentry frame is!

I'll just say this:

If I could trade my LTR450 in for a modern LT250R - basically an LTR450 chassis with an RM250 engine (which is still produced over in Europe as a new bike), I would be all over it in a heartbeat.

I love 2-strokes - nothing like em (IMO). Sooo easy to work on, easy to rebuild, and pretty cheap.

I know Ive said it won agains,t the 250r and I was wrong on my info but it won a national Race not a championship and it started the 4-stroke hybred dominance over the 250r !the Z440 was first E-start/4-stroke to win agains,t 250r in a gnc pro race it just didn,t win championship but won many rounds and came in the top three at end of season if I read it right. Yeah when i read it i thought it mean,t championship when it said National championship race thinking it won season when it won a national race . So thats my bad !

a 400ex and a z400 beat all the 250r's in 02 and in 03 a few times at gncc's and in 03 they all ran together.

Actually i found it last semester when i did a powerpoint presentation for my Criminal Law and Procedures class... :) So techincally............ you didn't discover it. We all have access to google and can copy and paste a link.

actually gust beat 250r's a couple times in 01 or 02 on his walsh dr-z440 ..which is basically the same motor as the z 400
so yeah kinda he did beat r's on it

La, la, la, la. 250r's ruled racing for almost 20 years. But that is the past. So get off your soap box and have a seat, those days are far behind us. And anyone who has followed racing knows no one, not even gust beat any pro on a 250r on a Z. It didn't happen. If the r was racing then so were hybrids and both are hands down better than any z ever made.

I think if the 250r riders want to race the 450 guys then it would be cool to see such a battle myself ! but they would need cc,s higher to compete with the 450,s. Maybe 300 cc,s ?

everyone else I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!! Looks like cabin fever has finally set in and people are ranting again!

Enjoy it!!!! This lasts only lasts about 2 weeks on average people! Then people start REALLY getting pissy, Pappy gets pissed and bans someone, someone starts a thread about the rules suck and we want that person back, he signs up under a new screen name and gets banned again, we then talk about how cool it was "back in the day"....and then racing starts again and we all wait anxiously for the live results and scream at the people who try to report from the race on top of someone's travel trailer ilegally because there is chitty cellphone reception!
