Put a FCR from a trx450r on a 400ex. The bike only run when the choke is on. Seems to run rich, make backfire, plug got wet... The time i push choke off... it die... even if i try to wot it... it die in a blink...

I clean the carb sevrale times... no change... I matter if i got a air leak, or clogged somewhere in passage in the mid section... jets look to be ok, see thru... Can it be the float?

Need suggestion from pro's to help me out with that!! Please!!!

If it will only run with the choke on then its running lean and you need to up the size of the pilot jet.

Have a #42 pilot in it.... jetted for a stock 450r... and i'm barely stock with my 400ex... I need a much bigger pilot if that cuze, when I push choke off, it dies right there, like there was not a single puff of gaz sucked in....

How can i clean the mid section without open it? Can it be bad for gasket in it to soak it in carb cleaner ???

Could be an air leak then. You can soak it in cleaner but DO NOT take the mid body apart, there is an o ring gasket in there that seals it and it IS NOT AVAILABLE to buy separately so if you tear it your screwed.

check to make sure the pilot jet isnt clogged, if it dies instantly with the choke off that is usually the cause but could also be other things if the pilot is good

Do you know what he got as jetting setup?

Can I be wayyyyy too lean on the pilot?

It's stock for a 450r at main 120, pilot 42, clip 3rd , screw 1½ out

I'm stock cylinder, p&p, UNI, full pipe....

Make sure that the hot start is off. A lot of people that try FCR's forget about the hot start, and then try and jet it, and can never get it rich enough to run right, because the hot start is open, creating an air leak.

Donno if it's coming from a ER or an R... Donno if they got the same carb with the hot start for both?? when I got it, it's only have the choke button on it... I'll check that!!
