Im kinda new to the 400ex and i found out when trying to clean my air box/filter that when you take off the seat all the back plastics come with it. Im sure everyone knows that here but my question is does anyone have a problem taking your seat off and putting it back on? It took me forever to put it back on because of the battery on the left is right in the way can someone tell me a easy way to put the seat back on maybe im missing something.

Thanks,
Connor

Yea its a pain in the arse to get on and off. There is a small trick where you put it on with the ears as best as you can under the front plastics, then I usually grab the battery side and slightly pull it out so its fits over the battery and its on.

You will get used to it.

The rear fender and seat are such a pain to put on, I always have trouble getting mine back on. I think that over the time the fenders flex and thats why it is so difficult. Sometimes when I put mine on the plugs in front of the battery will get disconnected, and Im left wondering why it wont start lol.

Heres another trick I use:

When you put it on you dont want to try to get it on the big nut on the tank at first. Take it and like I said get the rear fender lip under the front fender lip, then like I said get it over the battery.

At this point you dont want the plastics up all the way to that nut. When you got the fender itself pretty good on there push it up while holding the front down so it goes onto the nut.

Its kinda hard to explain but like I said before you will get it.

i feel differently about it. I have more trouble with my dads rincon seat and my moms rancher seat than i do with my 400 back end.

I hold the back part with my right hand, the front seat area with my left. I tilt the front in and press to hook the tank and slide it into the side panels at the same time. then you can push the back down again. it is almost inevidable that you will hit the black side panel on one side or the other, it will slide over it easy enough.

what does this big nut up front look like? when i got my machine this summer it didnt have one... Which coincidentally makes it super easy to put the seat back on. but i would like to have it. makes it look better since the seat kinda sits up a little now...

numbers 19 and 9

then there are two rubber grommets on the frame

1 on that one.

if you are having alot of trouble take the right side rubber grommet off and see if that helps a bit.
