ok when i had my 416 with stage 2 cam. uni filter, no lid, and fmf slip on with 20 in tires i could bring the front end up and keep goinng in 4th gear. now i put a 11:1 wiseco pistion and back to stock bore and i cant get the front end to say upvin 4th. and in third it stugles but will keep goin. now when i was doing this wheelie the motor is not broke in yet. so it will still gain a little more hp when fully broken in. but my question is. if im goin from a 416 to a 400 did that cause me that much to not be able to do wheelies in 4th?

hard to say i suppose. What jetting are you running now? I would say to wait till it is fully broke in since you are most likely a bit rich still. steve

I think part of it is the cam part is its not broken in.
Was the comp. higher before with the 416?

I had a stock bore 11:1 with stage 1 cam P&P and a pipe, could lug it down the road even in 5th grab a hand full of throttle and pull back some and get it into a wheelie and just ride as far as i wanted (until i ran out of road lol)

The stage 2 will show better mid range power in say a 416 or 426 but i personally think its a little much for stock bore.

also what was the comp on your 416? most likely 11:1. I would say that you shouldnt lose too much but could possibly lose a couple of hp.

imo the cam has to do more with compression than bore size. so going back down to a 397cc compared to a 416 wont really change that much. the only issue is that the displacement vs weight is higher for the 400cc compared to a 416. just as a 426 compared to a 416. the piston doesnt really weigh that much more vs the extra cc. thus making it rev faster than the previous one.

just my thoughts on the topic.

valve train including cam is 2 years old. and all is in decent condition. old pistion was 11;1. it had a 170 main. BUT WITH THE NEW MOTOR my jetting is 160 main, 42 pilot, 3 clip, 2.5 a/f. i aint brakin in my motor the ***** way. ride it like u stole it.

you got that right. i ride mine like a mx machine for 15 minute intervals.

finish breaking it in and then see how it does. you may be able to go down a bit on jetting but after break in you can do some chops and find out.

opsi meant to say it pulls are the way till the rev limiter not the powerband lol

if it is hitting the limiter then you are probably jetted pretty close. I would think that what you have now is just about what you will have at the end. you wont gain too much more after it is broke in i dont think. maybe a little but if you have 2 hours on it already, i would say it is just about broke in enough to judge that you wont be getting much more out of it.

just the nature of the beast imo but shouldnt be far behind what it was with the 416.
