Well I figured at 45, if I don't get a Raptor now it ain't going to happen so here it is. Sold the 400 EX way too cheap to a friend who has never ridden quads or motor bikes.

Is an '06 with 52 hours. Was bog stock except for crap nurfs and an hour meter.

In the last week it has copped +4 LSR axle +2 Snyder a-arms Renthal taper bars + Rox antivibe risers GTT rear linkage Pro peg nurfs Pep steering damper Kenda Claw rears. Is waiting for front shocks from GTT, a HMF slip on and Power Commander which should all be done this week.

cool, i am helping my brother rebuild his '01 660. It has been a long process so far but we are nearing the final stretch. Good bikes and fun to ride.

i will never sell my ex....lost one 3 yrs ago and wont go through that again, but if i ever get another quad at this time it would be either a 450r or a 660r. my uncle has the all black limited edition one and i love riding it...congrats on the nice raptor....

I wish I had that luxury, honestly, but I can't justify two of us having three quads.

I got AUS$4000 for the EX (could have got five) which went towards all the mods. I bought the bike for AUS$6000.

New Raptor 700 sells for $13,000 in Australia, then you have to spend to make them wider, plus pipe etc....

Not a bad thing but you should be happy with the 700.
I had a 660 and absolutely hated it felt way to top heavy even after a wider axle (bent the stock and ripped the spines off it) it still felt top heavy.

I think that was the biggest mistake i made trading my 02 400ex for an 02 raptor.

But i have rode some of the newer 700s and i like them its to different worlds between the 660 and 700.

I really like the 700 but not nearly enough to ditch my EX and even if i do i would say i would still want a honda.

I've owned a 400ex since 04 but during that time I owned a just about every Yamaha quad out there. But I kept going back to the 400ex. I traded a 02 Raptor 660 for my bone stock 03 400ex. But the one I've owned the longest is my 250r Suzuki quadracer.

02 400ex ( 409cc) Modded
03 400ex - stock
86 250r Quadracer
04 400ex ( 416) racer -building now

Nothing wrong with the 700 raptor, the 660 is another story. i was offered one for 600 bucks that needed work and turned it down..dont want to mess with them. not my cup of tea, to each his own.

i wish i had the honda 700xx...they weren't made yet back in 2007 when i got my 400ex...i didn't get a 450r because i think reverse is necessary on a quad lol....i would've maybe even gotten a kfx450r but it came out a year later i think...it did have reverse on it....oh well quads cost too much now...the 400ex now is like 7grand almost...i got mine for like $4500 back in 2007 brand new...the 700xx is way off the charts as far as price goes lol

Reverse is over rated unless its a heavy arse utility where you cant move it by hand if need be.

i guess you don't ride in the woods in the southeast much....plenty of times when the trails are so tight you need reverse unless you wanna pull the quad up a hill in the mud barely fitting between two trees lol....some tight trails around here sometimes...if you do any trail riding reverse is pretty much necessary around here..eventually you are gonna need it...or at least wish you had it lol

Trails I ride can be that tight, I just do 3 things:
1. Smash the gas and pull the front brakes and spin myself around

2. Do the same but if I cant get it turned all the way around Ill climb up the small hill or whatever and push myself with my foot or roll down. Talk about a 10pt K turn tho.

3. get off and turn it around myself.

But I understand, some trails its very tough to do and the guys who have reverse are already turned around by the time I am usually.

lol im only 22. I know reverse on my sleds are essential. electric start is super nice also. I wont be buying one of those again without it. the fourwheelers are a different story though, they roll pretty easy 90% of the time.

I bought a brand new 08' for $4900 with a 3 year warranty.

The dealer offered me the 700xx for $5200 OTD. like $10/month difference.

I went with the EX

There's a big difference between a TRX400EX and a TRX700XX. To me the 400 EX is fun to ride, but I imagine the 700 would be hard work, and much more suited to competition riding.
