After reading some posts about the XR400 cam in a 400EX I am getting interested. How much does this cam cost? I thought someone posted that it costs $125. How much power would my bike gain? Would it be low end power? Any info would be appreciated.

Did you feel a big power gain from it? When you installed it, did you have to install anything else with it? I heard that you should put an over-sized piston in it with the cam. Did you, or is that just rumor? Thanks

You will get a larger gain with a HI COMP piston then you will with a stock one its not needed but im going to do it later, i just wanted to spend the 200$ on buying other gifts not me:D :D :D :D Ill get a 416 kit in january that should take care of the power thing. look in the Motor forum i have a thread about it there.

fourstroke for about 250$ u can have a nice set up from marcums...

xr400 cam 120$
je 10.8:1 stock bore piston 130$

from what everyone tells me they work hand in hand.... i had just a xr 400 cam in my 400 and i noticed a power differnce but now that i have a tc mx grind cam, je 406 10.8:1 piston porting and a mod carb the motor really comes to life the only problem its around 800$ for it all...

I just went to the Marcum's web page and I can't even find the XR400 cam. Can you post a link to it for me? The piston as well. Thanks!

Depends on your money and what your doing with your quad, if you are always Hi in the RPM then go Gt if your not looking for all top end go with the XR i did the Xr i like it, i picked up Top end also but i ride trials and dont really need a lot of top but wanted more MID thats what the XR will do, Combo that with a HI comp piston you will see the biggest gains from it.

I'm getting pistons when i get the cam, not sure on that either. Whether wiseco or je. I would rather have more top end than bottom or middle. But i don't want to have to spend 500 on a full race cam
