i know this has been covered and i have searched and cant find a good answer. and i used the calculator but would like some opinions from experience. trying to find the best combo for my brothers 426 with 18" rear tires. he bought a 36 for the rear. is that all he should change or should he mess with the front as well? what are you guys running to get the maximum acceleration and top speed both? thanks

16/36 should be a good combo.

Yea should get you 85mph according to the gear calc. Remember the change the rpm to 9100 as thats the redline of the EX.

imo the 15/36 would be good to get close to stock gearing feeling with 18s on it. it would def pull nice and still get you mid seventies. with the 16 it will have some long legs thats for sure. steve

I run a 14-36 combo and it pulls like a tank on the low end. With the mods I have, I have lots of mid range power and with the sprocket combo I run that gives me some of my low end back and helps keep my mid range. It does fall flat some on the top end but most of the tracks I ride I only reach full speed on the strait away for a few seconds. So I feel like its geared right for my needs. I would like to try a 15-36 and see what that feels like, it may work better. Seems like there’s always a spot on every track where I could use a gear change but changing to fix that spot may throw off all my shift points on the rest of the track. I guess the trick is to find a happy medium.

Im running a 14, 36 and like it but havent had time to really open it up and try it out.
Ive got a couple 15s and 16s in the garage so might have to try something else out if i get a chance.
