I can't tighten my chain.

Carrier doesn't want to turn.

I took a big file and tapped it with a hammer to get it tight enough to get by a little longer.

What gives???
It doesn't want to turn either way.

HELP!

did you loosen the 4 allen bolts that hold the carrier in place?

Yeah, make sure those 4 bolts are completely loose if not it wont turn. If they are loose then you prolly have some mud or something in there holding it from spinning freely.

Yeah the bolts were loose... there was space between the heads of the bolts and the swinger.

I'm stumped.

I had to use a crowbar on mine last time..

take a flat head screwdriver or prybar or something and stick in the slit on the swingarm, pry it apart, that should let the carrier turn

dont pry to hard, that cast aluminum will snap pretty easy.

yeah you wont have to pry much, just barely and it should free up

I thought about doing that just to check see... but second guessed myself, so I didn't.

My buddy adjusted my chain slack and locked things down for me while I was working on something else on his 300EX.

Think he just over-tightened those bolts and I need to pry a little on the swinger?

I used to rotate my carrier with whatever
I had in hand (screwdriver, allen key)

It expanded the holes from left to right so
it was very hard to turn it. (The rim on
the left got "thicker" and because of the
C-clip on the right it was nearly impossible
to turn)

Brought it to a machine shop and they
turned it to make it flat again. (there was
bumps on the side of every holes acting
like "grip")

I now bought an Adjustable Spanner
Wrench at Princess auto and it makes
the job a breeze!
