I have been trying to get some info on the 08 cams. I would like to install a 02 CRF450 cam. I am told that Honda changed the decompression assembly. Does anyone out there know what is required to accomplish this? Or is it even possible. Thanks

it is possible, you need the whole decomp assembly from the regular trx. its gonna get costly, i rough estimated the parts at retail at over 300... your better off getting a complete cam and carrier used that has the decomp assembly and use that, or just buy the sparks drop in ER cam
yes decomp is dif, just get a stage 2 hot cam works great

The cam carrier from the newer ER is the same as the older style. All of the older decomp system will work on the newer carrier.

i knew the carrier was the same, thats why i said he needs the decompression assembly. but you can pick up used cams in the carrier with everything ready to go used pretty cheap compared to buying just the decompression assembly parts new
