I have run the trx for years and never really worried if there was a little play in the swing arm bolt holes.
Now I am into hybrids and get a little worried as now the bolt goes through the engine case.

Any advice on taking the wobble out of the swing arm bolt holes in the frame?

thanks

is it possible you have the wrong swingarm pivot bushings?

do you have the correct swingarm bolt?

are there spacers missing or something?

pics always help.

sinple but not perminat solution. find some big thick washers that fit the bolt and weld or tack weld it were the bolt goes into the hole

Do you mean the holes in the frame, or the hole in the motor?

I mean the holes in the frame.
Certainly I can start welding washers. At that point the swing arm bolt will become too short as the threads will then ride into the frame.

No I do not have the wrong bolt.

I can not be the only one were to holes in the frame have become worn or oval-ed.
I just thought there was some tricks with JB weld or something.

Particularly I have a lone star CRF frame with a bit of play in the swing arm bolt holes. Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks

like jcs said possibly find some press fit bushing that will work or something along the lines.

if the hole are worn or ovaled, then it sounds like there is only one fix. Weld it back and drill/machine the hole back to the correct size and placement. JB weld would never be strong enough to do anything like that.

possibly have a machine shop drill the holes out larger and make some custom bushings that press into place. chromoly of course so they can be welded to the frame. just an idea.

Approximate location of threads with washer stack, just for reference.

I have had this problem before. It was on a 300ex that i had 8-9 yrs ago. I spun some bosses up on a lathe and it had a counter sunk hole for the nut and for the head of the bolt. The bosses increased the surface that the pivot bolt went through from about and 1/8th inch to 1/2inch. I then took a cut off wheel and cut a slot in the boss on the side that the head of the pivot bolt will go in. Then i took the head of the pivot bolt and shaved the flange off even with one of the flats of the head it gave me about 13/16 of and inch of flat. I then stuck the pivot bolt in the boss and stuck a piece of 1/8plate in the slot i cut. Then i tigged the plate and turned it down in the lathe. what this done was locked the pivot bolt down so it can spin. That is usually what oblongs the holes sinse the bolt is hardened and the frame isnt. I would post pics if i had some but sorry i dont. Janssen racing had the frame for a while but last i heard it was in australia. I used a 400ex pivot bolt since it was longer and then boxed the around the bosses. Maybe this will help you a bit.
