05 honda 400ex oil leak behind sprocket

The seal is leaking that the shift shaft goes thru , how hard is it to changed it? Can you change it simply by pulling off sprocket pulling old seal and replacing with new?

yup, do it just like you said. pull the sprocket off and fish the seal out. clean up the surface and slide a new one in.
