Hey guys I just picked up an 08 Outlaw 525 IRS bran new in crate.
I'm guessing this has been asked 900000 times but i'll ask again.
What is the best break in for this ktm engine?
I've broke in 2 predators and more CR250 moto bikes that I can count.
However the paper work that came with the Outlaw 525 had a warning from Polaris saying to be sure to follow the break in process in the book for this KTM race engine.
The Predator never had a warning paper in it's package so i'm wondering if I should just break it in how I've done the preds or if there is a process to making sure these motors have max life span.
The predator what I did was warn it up with easy riding not letting it sit and idle once warn I would run it through all the gears using the first 1/2 of the throttle for the first hour. Let it cool. Than on the 2nd hour same thing but using the top 3/4. not punching it and loading up the engine but smoothly rolling through the revs. That predator ran perfect and never once needed anything other than oil changes. I would like the KTM motor to treat me as well. I understand this motor does take more maintenance.
Thanks for the help guys.
I also attached a picture with the Outlaw and the Sportsman 850XP
