Hey Guys,

I'm looking to trade my Kawi make a little bit of cash on the deal. I am from Canada, so prices are a little bit different, but here'goes.

My KFX is an 08 and is 100% stock.

Option#1 - This guy wants to trade me the bike, With a set of ST Elka front shocks and 4 Hiper tech 3's with brand new Quad Cross tires extra. and He is going to give me $750

Option 2:

This guy wants to trade me, It is pretty much whacked out, its got LSR axle, +3 Arms, Stem. Cool head. too much to list..

He wants to give me $800 on top, but he just rebuilt the motor and I would have to jet it myself.

3rd option is one with LTR fron shocks and some other goodies. Not as nice as the other two, but hes going to give me $1500 on top of the trade.

So what do you guys think??

I'd go with option 1 or 3.

2 might be the best quad, but 1 and 3 you get the most out of it to do other mods and see if you like the 2-stroke.

And ive got a set of +2 arms jus sitting here that I bought for my Ex that I would through on option 1 or 3.. or sell them if I get #2

#2 sounds like the best deal. your getting more money and a nicer quad than #1

#2

What are your plans for the extra cash? Number 2 is the nicer quad, but I guess it depends on if your trying to free up the cash for other things... or use the money towards more mods.

Where abouts in Ontario are you as well?

Go with number 2. Then put the 800 towards an esr cylinder kit.
Something sounds fishy about the you need to re-jet it cause i just rebuilt it. wrong cylinder or port job or something dont match the rest of the set up. maybe he will tell you the truth.

I think the rest of the bike looks taken care of. best we can see from a pic.

that was my main concern too. He said he put the wrong jet in it and he doesnt want to run it because he doesnt want to blow it up.

I'm kind of leaning towards #2 because I dont have to put any work into it to take it on the track.

I am trying to free up some $$ to finish up my trx450r. I swapped my 05 rear end on to my 400ex and am waiting for the $$ to buy the new axle, and brakes and powder.

And besides i'd much rather a 250r It would look better in my shop with my other Hondas too

Flyin_250r - I'm from Cornwall, 30 mins from the Quebec border, and right on the USA border. Always looking for new places in the are to ride. Where you from?

Something definitely sounds fishy about #2 with the jetting issue.

Im from down in Niagara. Not a whole lot of riding down here. PM me sometime... always good to find riding friends even if they arent right local

If i get it then I'm going to take it to my buddy that builds racing Side-Cars. He built my 426 and it's been going strong for 5 years.

I'm going to ride the MMRS series next summer.. A couple of decent tracks from Peterborough to Kingston. Pretty easy stuff, nothing too big. 40 foot doubles and stuff, but they are well built. You should make the treck!

Im thinkin number two as my first pick. wicked cool quad and quite a bit of cash to do a little customization.

2nd would be option number 3, because you would be getting 1500 extra along with the 250r.

I would say something is up with number 2 but is the nices quad of the 3. #1 wouldn't be bad with you EX A-arms with the Elka shocks and hi-per rims are great I have a set. But if you took #3 and took the 1500 in put that money into it, that would be the way to go, built it how you want it. Good luck with the deal!

thanks for the heads up 250rpowervalve! That rules out #3. What part of quebec are you from?

I was already between 1 & 2... decisions decisions..

Another from Ontario. Im out in Petawawa. 2 hrs out of Ottawa. Where are the tracks in kingston and peterborough? names?
Personally Id go with number 2. Depending on your mechanical aptitude. Jetting isn't hard just time consuming. But I would want to take the head off at a minimum and make sure it actually has a new top end in it. Try to talk him into giving you a 1000$ instead.
Just my .02$

#2 hands down then upgrade to walsh/pep setup ..but bike looks the best and jetting shouldn't be that hard to fix

Soemthing looks fishy about the VIN tag on #2

It looks like it's been cut-off and re-welded on ???

Those sure don't look like factory welds.

Does he have an Ownership for it ?

Where abouts in Ontario is this one located ?

haha Langbolt, you've got me researching how much I can sell my motor and spare parts for to make a hybrid. I can't find any info on it though, I dont think it's been done yet..

What part of ONT are you from??

Maybe you could find a 250R motor and slip it into the KFX chassis....

I'm from Whitby....ya know where the looney bin is.....If I'm good they let me out to ride!

haha

I graduated from Durham in Oshawa/Whitby in April '09. I wish i had my quads up there while I was in school, there seems to be a decent amount of people who ride up there.

Well I've been busy for a month, but I finally managed to make the trip to trade the KFX. I went with #2 and $900 on top.

Ownership says it's an '86.

I'm taking it for a check-up at my buddies place tonight so I'll have it back next week

From the pics on the first page, it looks to be an 87. You can tell by the fact that it has new style motor mounts, but has the VIN attached to the subframe.

Yah, the vin was definitly welded on.. But He just plated it in his name to make the trade easier. So as long as I can get it in my name without issue, I'm happy.
