I've owned and races both ( 5 250R's) , (1 450R) I ve sold them all.Yes i miss the snap of the 250R and the smell of race fuel.More maint on the 250R but its cheaper then crank failure/case on the 450R.If i could do it over again i would have kept my 89 250R and had both at once.

Id keep the 250r... Nothing handles better than a leager t pin "R" IMO. the extra small maintenance you need to do on a 250r is well worth it.

If you like the handling of the R and want a 4 stroke get a 250r based hybrid

c41xracer...not a bad idea ive been thinking of that ...i have a 08 walsh 450r brand new lol never rode it bought it from honda did a few wheelies up and down and tore it apart put it together almost complete now but never rode it ..so i have both sitting and looking to get back into racing i love the handiling of the laeger ...but i rode my friends 450 well it was crf 450 walsh and the power was sick ....so i kinda lost intrest in the two stroke it was totally different no clutching just roll on the throttle lol...so i hybrid might not be bad ...how does the honda 450 all setup with walsh custom axis air handle compared to the laeger will i be dissapointed ???

a 450R will never be a 250R, stock vs stock if you upgrade suspension the 250R will handle better, let alone a aftermarket chassis. I have both, like both, but when it comes down to it I prefer the 250R. the 450R just seems bulky, lowering the subframe does wonders for them I've heard, but I have never personally done it to mine. when it comes down to it IMO its going to come down to rider choice, I don't feel that one machine is superior to the other, they both have their pros and cons.
