Would like to know if anyone has compared the drg 12.5:1 race piston vs the venom 12.25:1 piston?

I would like to know which 1 will make more power? And does the drg live up to it's claim of not needing to change the valves?

you dont need to change the valves no matter what you do, his piston is made with a dome top in each valve pocket to match the normal indent in the valve, this will give a very minimal amount of compression increase. Venom went out of business, they were selling off all of their stock but im pretty sure all the pistons are gone by now. They were really nice pieces though, used them for last 2 seasons

Just bought a Venom 97mm 12.25 Call Teresa, they may have more. It is a very nice slug.

i've never ran venom pistons, but i have ran a DRG 12.5 piston and can tell you its a very nice piece. it has features that other aftermarket pistons dont have. There is alot of thought put into the design of them. i wouldnt hesistate to buy another one of his pistons. and Chad is a super nice guy.

I have had bikes with both venom and drg pistons, they are both great pistons and you cant really go wrong with either, but.... you will see better gains with the DRG piston, Chad has really done his homework on piston deisgn and they make great power. my motor is actually on the way back from drg now, with a new 12.25.1 piston in it and will be putting down 70+hp:devil:

How much more on the gains? Enough to justify the extra cost? Any additional data would be great!

whats prices were you quoted on the two different pistons? you would prob see a hp/.5fttq difference with drg over venom maybe depends on your porting and cam choice.

I was quoted 245 for the venom and 300 for the drg.

Was that price through Venom? I paid $175.00 shipped a few weeks ago.

I like Paul @ Woodward, bought some things from him. Give Venom a call (517) 655-2870, their in Michigan. That price may have been for a limited time only. It's worth a try.

I have the drg piston along with a full engine build from chad 15:1 compression this motor is almost 2 years old and has not given me any problems what so ever.
