I know that there are a few good mx racers on here and i was wondering what they do for working out? I'm in shape, 5'10" and 150#, I can ride for a good amount of time and i got comfortable on the quad so i dont get arm pump as easily but i still get it. I ride as much as i can to get comfortable but i believe that there is more to be done off the quad.
My question is what are you guys doing to get in shape and being able to ride as hard throughout the whole moto.

Cardio. And practice. Leg muslces are big, you have to really clamp to the bike to hang on sometimes.

For me arm pump is brought on by gripping the bars too tight. At least in most cases that’s what I have discovered. When you feel the arm pump coming on, try to relax your grip a bit, it least it works for me. It happens to me when I start out and haven’t gotten warmed up good yet and when I hit rough sections hard for a long time.
And as recommended earlier ride, ride, ride. A good hard ride is about the most physical exercise you can do, and the seat time will only increase your skill level.
