Hey guys, bought a Houser hybrid frame a year ago. Was told its an 05 for the 05-07 crf. Finally got around to getting an 07 crf450 dirtbike for the motor, pulled the motor and found that the lower motor mounts on the frame are about 1/2" too narrow and the front motor mounts on the frame are about 1" too narrow. Is this not actually a crf frame?? Did I get taken.

Thanks

Wouldn,t that frame been built for quad motor in 05 than dirtbike motor? cause i thought dirtbike motor,s trans case is different than the quad?

No the cases changed on the Crf 450 motors, I'm trying to get a handle on this as well. So if anyone doesn know the exact years they changed please chime in. I think its just one change, like 02-03 were the same then 04 and up are the "others" but thats a guess at this point.

I think I found the disconnect. This houser frame was listed as an '04 in late '08 and purchased by g9901920 http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=366677&highlight=houser and then the same member relisted it as an '05 in early '09 in this thread http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=383349&highlight=houser . I think this is the frame i ended up with. I purchased in late '09, same color with sparks swingarm and pipe. From what i was told the crf motor similarities go up to 04, then 05-07, then 08 on. Does anyone have a measurement on the front and lower motor mount width on an 04 or 03 crf motor?

Im almost positive all houser crf frames were built for the 02-03 style engines.

02-03 lower mount is about 3 1/4 in. to 3 1/2 in. , 04 is 4 in. my chassis fits 02-04 my 03 motor has a spacer on oneside (taken off the dirtbike) not sure about the front mount though i could check tomorrow, if u want just pm me for more info.

let me know if you want new mounts to weld on. might be tough trying to save the old ones.

Ya, my lower mount is 3 1/2" and the front mount is 2 1/2". Looks like it is set up for the 02-03 motor. Not sure if i want to hack it up, deep down I'd like to get a walsh or leager anyways, maybe this will be my reason.

Thanks guys

I wouldn't, there are a bunch of 03' motors out there.

if u get someone who knows what they are doing then it wont be a hack job.

Ya, I'm thinking I might sell it. I could fabricate mounts no problem, I just dont want to cut up a perfectly good houser frame.
