I have a 2005 ex. Its bored to a 440 and has all the mods in my signature. A few months ago the tranny locked up and I lost reverse and 2nd gear. It still runs and rides fine, just missing the gears when you shift into them. I currently have the wheels and tires, nerfs, and 450 shocks on my stock 400ex. I wanna sell the 440 to get some money for a 450. My question is do you think I would be able to get more selling as is or getting it fixed first. I will most likely put the nerfs and wheels back on. And how much do you think it would be in each scenario, its in great condition even though it has a lot of hours on i.

You will definitely get more if you have it fixed first. Most people would be skeptical about buying a quad with a blown reverse and 2nd gear. If not people are gonna lowball ya

well I can tell you right now, I buy bikes in this exact situation and fix and sell them for money. I, nor anyone I know would pay a dime over $1100 for it in its current state. Its going to cost you $350 for a good complete used trany and gaskets to fix it if you do it yourself. If you pay someone to do it your looking at $700-800+. When all is done you could ask $3500 for it and get somewhere around $3000 for it. These prices all being based on what bikes go for here in AZ, may be less or more wherever you are. And dont worry about the wheels and nerf bars, things like that sadly do not really add to the used price of a bike.

yah but not with an 11:1 440 kit, 450r shocks, a $600 full exhaust and nerfs. lol. suspension, exhaust and a bb kit are about the only things that add to the value.

Yeah but most of the time buyers are scared of something with a built motor for two reasons. Was it built right? Was it beat on? Personally I wouldn't buy something already bored because you can never trust if its done right unless you do it yourself.

x2 and aftermarket doesnt add any value unless someone knows what it is. I know i am skeptical when looking at stuff with mods on it. I make sure i know what jetting it should be around, what mods are done internally, and such. if they cant tell me whats inside its no deal from the get go. not saying yours isnt or anything. just an idea of how some look at mods.

great looking machine. I would say 2200-2500 would be acceptable maybe 2800 starting and go down from there. thats a bit high but not unreasonable for people to look at it. def gonna have to get it fixed though for those sort of prices.

Thanks guys. I was thinking Id get more with it fixed. Its been a 440 for about 2 years and never had any problems with it at all. So $350 for a bottom end is about what Im looking at? I'll be able to switch the top end over. And 2 to 3 grand after Im done?

I search prices on craigslist all the time and look for deals as well
Current situation i would say you can ask for 1750-2250 people will be scrared...Also what they will do is call local shops to get quotes to get this fixed...
Fixed it looks clean i say 2750-3250 depending who you sell it too...
But that is here in socal where the economy took a dump and people are off loading there used toys to keep their homes...

Fix it, then sell it as others have said. Who wants to buy something they can't ride "out of the box".

Most people dont want aftermarket like that, especially being bored to a 440. Personally i wouldnt buy one thats been bored or has had the motor apart because you dont know if they did it right or if there a backyard mechanic so they call themselves that dont know what the hell there doing. I would definally buy a new 08 for $3299 with warranty and you know where it been and how its been taked care of, and also i love the new plastics.
