im getting a new truck and it's one or the other.

02 ford powerstroke 7.3 quad cab lariet long bed 4x4 f350
put a 12in lift tint windows, dual 8in stacks, 42in tires.

or

98 cummins 12v sclb lariet i think? silver bullet 66 turbo , built tranny, injectors, lift/injection pump, laser cut delivery valves, cam, heavier valve springs, head studs, water/meth injection, porting, flatt black with a mitre cut chrome hood stack, 16x18 rims...really wide.

first would be more practical and driveable and yet still beat any ricer

the second would be putting down about 1000hp and 1500ft lbs of turque but is not as practical and good looking as the ford.

it will be a daily driver btw.

daily driver, the ford no question. i have a super duty with the 5.4 gasser, but the truck itself has been awesome.

for a toy... the cummins for sure. can't beat the engine, too bad the shipping crate they come in aren't up to par.

ford pros
carry more people, practical, decent power, looks hella badass with lift/tires, good play truck, newer,

cons
it's a ford:ermm:,

dodge pros
it's a cummins, wicked fast street truck, beat any stock chorvette or viper, fun street truck.

cons
not practical, chance of boost blowing motor up,

idk:(

Go with the ford. Its a stock 7.3. It will get good fuel mileage and run forever. Not saying a cummins wont run forever but its like everything. You mod it and its a ticking time bomb. Plus if the dodge is an auto that makes it even scetchier, even if it is built

the 7.3 was the best motor ever made for ford... its a sick truck i had nothing but bad luck with my dodge...i got stranded twice over 200 miles away from home with my dodge....my ford never let me down yet just my opinion

i'll probably go with 40's instead. strongly considering this lift. the truck would look exactly like this minus the rims. i'm trying to stay under 20k

plan on building your transmission on the 7.3 if you put those tires on it, and most likely a tune.

12 on 40s is also un practical. its to big.

8 on 37s is what you want if you want to be big and still a daily.

youll be okay on 37s for gears, but anything bigger you will need to regear so add a couple grand for that

dead set with 12in lift on 40's. gearing, upgraded torque converter, and a smarty will help the tires and tranny.

I'd go with the cummins, Even built like that they are still very reliable. Look on Cumminsforum.com. There are many people with 900-1000 horse daily drivers

Cummins is cool, but enjoy building a trans for it to handle the power.

I would buy the ford and do a 6 or 8 inch lift and some 35s or 37s, it will be a dog with anything higher unless you spend big bucks to change the gears..

i also dont think your going to stay under 20k for the ford. if your buying all this stuff on top of the truck itself

also if you get the 02 careful with the power you put through it. they have PMR's and after anything more then a tune (the extreme/aggressive tunes arent even offered by some tuners for the PMR engines) they will blow up.

late 99 to 01 with forged rods is what you want.
