will a crf450 chain install just like a the factory chain or is there modifications required?

fits right on its cheaper and its heavy duty its so worth it... did it to my 400ex no problems yet... go on ebay i believe i bought mine for $20 with the gaurds but do a simple search to make sure all years fit i dont remember what year i used...

Do the guards from the crf work in the ex?

if i remember correctly only one did i dont know for sure its been so long since i did it... but i believe one worked

Will the tensioner work?? hard to believe how expensive the ex stuff is compared to a high tech mx bike

Yep, should work just fine. Its a good idea to replace it when you do this job, but its not 100% needed.
