Can the steering stem out of an 05 trx450 fit in an 01 400ex?

Yes but you will need 3 or 4 washers on each side of the clamp to act as spacers where the rubber bushing is because the 450 stem & bushing is larger then the 400. Oh & you'll probably have to readjust your toe-in.
