250r arms will work

400EX a-arms will fit the 250R by using some spacers at the pivot area.

250R a-arms will fit the EX frame but some grinding will need to be done for them to work. 250R a-arms are a little wider at the pivot areas compared to the EX.

There is cross compatibility chart over in the 250R section.

Must just be for stock then cuz I have Roll 250r arms on my 400.

Im not sure since Ive never tried, but I thought I remember reading about using a washer since the R arms are slightly narrower when using them on a EX.

also- thus the reason for grinding 400 arms to get them to fit on an r.

Not trying to argue, but you have it backwards Steve. To use 400EX a-arms on a 250R frame, you have to use washers/spacers.

Just go to the 250R section and type in 400EX a-arms. You will find plenty of posts to back up my answer.:blah:

correct. i read the chart wrong sometimes. it seems that some on this side say they have run them either way depending on the brand. i find people who have different views such as mark and i. seems to be somewhere that said that at one time on this section. i dont get on the r forum too often to even look at threads. steve

i could care less which way it is. i am by no means mad or irritated. i read the post wrong under the chart.

it is weird though, cause roll makes their arms for the 250r but dallas runs them on his 400 with no problems. roll doesnt make a 400ex arm. it seems that they wouldnt bolt up to a 400 without grinding if they were made for a 400ex unless the roll ones run a spacer on the r frame. steve

i wouldnt think that roll would make a 1000 dollar set of arms require a washer to work with the frame that they are designed for. lol hard to say i guess. steve

I understand, i was just refering to using stock a-arms on stock frames.

not sure that will be possible. lol i like my 400 too much to ever replace it. i will have others added to the stable but the 400 will have a place of its own forever.

it has been through everything with me for a long time. it has every trail i have ridden on it and has stood by me for well over 8000 miles or more with no signs of aging a bit. i change stuff to help it along but the majority is all stock equipment. the only bearings i have had to redo are the carrier ones so far but will be doing the swinger bolt ones and the steering stem ones this spring, thats all i have had to do frame wise. engine has had one top end but the stocker had probably 5000 on it before i rebuilt it. maybe more, i dont keep track of my riding that close. lol

I doubt an r would make it through the mud, rocks, sand, water, snow and other stuff i have put my 400 through since 03. my 400 used to be my weekly mud machine before i did the engine work. it would get cleaned thoroughly every trip but went in water quite often that was well up over the tires and more. i have mudsharks for it still in the garage.

steve: check out all the blackwater videos on youtube.com. those old r's have no trouble with the mud and water. i know mine feels right at home in it:D

Of course Roll makes 400 arms, you use a poly sealing washer on the end of each mounting location on the arms to take up the slight gap between the frame mount and arm.

LOL oh well lol you coming on messenger today or what, youve been browsing on and off all morning but no msn today? :( thats alright ill be riding soon anyway most likely. just as soon as i get my gaskets all changed lol.
