Well I had sometime today so I decided to get all of my stock stuff together so I could start an 89 Stock restoration.

I probably picking up another 250r frame so I'm switching all my aftermarket stuff from my XC bike to the new frame... most likely, except I'm selling off my Houser aarms, Swinger and stem.

Check out all of the 89 stuff I have. Everything to build a complete bike, taken off at a low hours. The only thing I lack to build the bike is a set of OEM white plastic which I plan to pick up a set in a couple months.

nice start. It looks like you have some of the hard to find parts. Dont be like me (5 years of collecting parts) and now dont have the time to put it all together.

Coming together!! I forgot to send the ignition cover to the powdercoaters when I sent everything else... So its not restored yet... haha, but its all coming together goingm its going to be a nice "rider" completely stock 89 bike. I plan to take it to my parents and leave it there to rider around the farm and use as a spare bike... Fresh coating on most of the parts. The motor mounts and head stay is black since that's what I did with my XC bike.

I see you have your underwater snorkel installed. When the flash flood hits, see if you can just outrun without having to ride through it. LOL!

Always like a fresh coated frame. Looks great so far. The ultimate bike 1989 TRX250R

Thanks Tony, hope my aarms make it to you ok. That's pretty much the last peice of the 89 puzzle. ...well other than OEM plastic, that might be a little challenge too... :D

I needed your help yesterday tried painting the radiator... didn't work too good, didn't realize that it need to be room temperature to paint... hey it was only 21 degrees in the garage yesterday... :D live and learn, so I need to redo that eventually too. Ooops.. looks good in the pic though, there is just some small runs in it from the cold.

Yes, temperature is a problem this time of year. I use the great outdoors as a paint booth. Hope you don't mind a few runs on those a-arms. Supposed to snow tomorrow. Or I can wait until its 50 degrees outside!

Looks good troy wish I had a few of those parts haha. Well It will look good when your all done. You dont see too many stock looking bikes that arent trashed, I think thats why a lot of people go straight for the mods but a stock R can turn heads when restored.

I did not get them as shiny as I wanted with the clear coat. But when you are doing someone else's parts you don't want to get to much paint on and create runs. These will dry overnight and I will bake them tomorrow.

Update: bike is coming together, I hope to have it completed this weekend, pending some bearings arrival tomorrow for the aarms... I ordered a new set of 89 graphics from ddrslap (can't wait to get them)... Bought some plastic from Dan - (Thanks Buddy!!!)

I also picked up a set of brand new never ridden 450r wheels and tires... I plan to ride this bike a spare and save it back.. not intended to be a museum bike or garage queen. So I opted not to get brand new plastic or spend 1000 on the Correct Ohtsu tires etc.. I the correct wheels... Also there is a Nac's case saver, new Oring chain, renthal sprockets, and Unifilter, other than that its perfectly stock and completely refurbished original.

Yes Sir Trevor, that's my new baby! Going to restore it to look like a minurature 89 250r, its going to be my mini-me TRX70R... hahaha... I'm going to start on that one once this 89 resto is done... Powdercoating, also getting custom fiberglass fenders. (no one makes white plastic ones , including Maier...) I've been doing some research on this in my spare time...

Original 250R radials are the same tire Honda used on the 400EX's for years. Ohtsu MR101 on the front and MR501 on the rear, and they're still available. Service Honda price on the fronts is $58.03 each and $70.32 each for the rear. Quad looks good though.

Thanks Rich, I thought they were replaced with the Dunlops, same tire just now Dunlop? I found these brand new take off 450r tires that I went with for now, they will work for riders... if I continue on with a musuem type build then I'd go for the correct tires, I have my 89 originals that I took off that are in good shape too...

No, I think Honda still has the actual Ohtsu tires. The part number is still the same, if they were going to substitute Dunlops, the number would change. I bought a set about a year ago or so to throw on my Banshee. I got the actual Ohtsu brand.

Well its done for the most part. I polished up that Graydon Proline bumper to finish it off for now. Waiting to get my Hondaline bumper back and my stocker and then I'll mount those. I like the classic Graydon on there though, one of my favorite bumpers back in the early 90's...

See whatcha think. Graphics are from ddrslap, done a fantastic job on them.

VERY NICE!!!!

Troy In the early pics the seat had more space between the tank and seat, in the later pics the space was alot less, what did you do to make the seat fit tighter to the tank????

On mine its almost like I have to put thicker rubber mounts on the back of seat mounts....
