I put a 04 450r carb on my 400. The 06 450er carb that i was running the top plate broke.
So now im trying to get this carb set up. It had a 48 pilot and a 195 main.
The problem is the head pipe is getting to hot and glowing red. I put a 50 pilot in and its still to lean.
Jets that are in it now are 50/195 fuel mix 3 turns out.
So what do i need to do now ?
Thanks And HAPPY NEW YEAR.

When it is at a idel it gets red.
So that shouldnt be the main jet right ?
That would be the pilot jet from what i have found over time. But not sure. Im thinking i need to go to a 52 or 55 pilot jet.
possible, try upping the pilot first and see what happens.

You are correct on the main...its only for 3/4 throttle to full...it would be your pilot an air mixture screw...try 3 1/2 to 4 turns out on the air mixture screw...then try going up on the pilot....check pilot an make sure it isn't plugged up, also I would raise the needle one notch.

If I were you, Id get a bigger pilot jet and adjust the needle a lil richer.

Ill try the pilot jet and try the air /fuel and see what happen's.
I went on bikebandett.com and order the top set for my other carb.
I like the other one a whole lot better. But i want to get this one set up so i will have a back up.
Or if some one has a fcr flat side thay dont need or like. I will buy it or we can tread out ?
